It was determined that the students with disabilities have common expectations, such as instructors sparing more time for them during the lessons.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 10Affective States Classification Performance of Audio-Visual Stimuli from EEG Signals with Multiple-Instance Learning(TÜBİTAK Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2022) Dasdemir, Yaar; Ozakar, RustemThroughout various disciplines, emotion recognition continues to be an essential subject of study. With the advancement of machine learning methods, accurate emotion recognition from different data modalities (facial images, brain EEG signals) has become possible. Success of EEG-based emotion recognition systems depends on efficient feature extraction and pre/postprocessing of signals. Main objective of this study is to analyze the efficacy of multiple-instance learning (MIL) on postprocessing features of EEG signals using three different domains (time, frequency, time-frequency) for human emotion classification. Methods and results are presented for single-trial classification of valence (V), arousal (A), and dominance (D) ratings from EEG signals obtained with audio (A), video (V), and audio-video (AV) stimulus using alpha, beta and gamma bands. High accuracy was observed with both binary and multiclass classification of the AV stimulus. Findings in this study suggest that MIL applied on frequency features yields efficient results on EEG emotion recognition.Article Citation - WoS: 19Citation - Scopus: 15Analysis of Factors Affecting Individuals' Sources of Happiness with Multinomial Logistic Model(Assoc Measurement & Evaluation Education & Psychology, 2021) Cebi Karaaslan, KubranurThe happiness levels of individuals and their sources of happiness have been wondered a lot and researched from past to present. Mesopotamian culture is based on a common religious view and consists of theocratic states ruled first by priest-kings. Mesopotamia is one of the crucial geographies where history is illuminated by art. This art reflects the feelings and thoughts of people and provides important clues about their world. The Sumerians' invention of writing was a significant development, but other developments and innovations in Mesopotamia also affected ancient societies such as the Middle East and Anatolia. Art is at the forefront of these developments and innovations. Centers such as G & ouml;beklitepe, Kurupay, Nevali & Ccedil;ori, & Ccedil;ay & ouml;n & uuml;, Hac & imath;lar, and Eriha-Jericho contain early examples of this art. Works of art such as the Vultures Stele, Ur Standard, Uruk Warka Vase, Naram-Sin Victory Stele, and Lion Hunt Stele are essential examples for our subject with their depictions of gods, kings, and heroes. This visual art of Mesopotamia is critical to the history of the Ancient Age as it provides information that thousands of written documents cannot convey. In Mesopotamian art, where gods and heroes (kings) are seen from the Neolithic Age to the Early Bronze Age, the concepts of gods and kings occupy a central place in art. However, it is also evident that these depictions developed and changed over time. Looking at these depictions, it is understood that while gods represent the spirit world and beliefs, heroes (king or emperor) symbolize earthly power. In these works of art, heroes are usually depicted as hunters, warriors, or kings. This heroism, which extends to the claim of god or godhood, reflects new administrative powers, economic prosperity, and military development.Article Citation - WoS: 1Application of the GKM to Some Nonlinear Partial Equations(Ankara University, Fac Sci, 2024) Demiray, Seyma T. U. L. U. C. E.; Bayrakci, Ugur; Yildirim, VehpiIn this manuscript, the strain wave equation, which plays an important role in describing different types of wave propagation in microstructured solids and the (2+1) dimensional Bogoyavlensky Konopelchenko equation, is defined in fluid mechanics as the interaction of a Riemann wave propagating along the y-axis and a long wave propagating along the x-axis, were studied. The generalized Kudryashov method (GKM), which is one of the solution methods of partial differential equations, was applied to these equations for the first time. Thus, a series of solutions of these equations were obtained. These found solutions were compared with other solutions. It was seen that these solutions were not shown before and were presented for the first time in this study. The new solutions of these equations might have been useful in understanding the phenomena in which waves are governed by these equations. In addition, 2D and 3D graphs of these solutions were constructed by assigning certain values and ranges to them.Article Citation - WoS: 1Artificial Intelligence and Service, Industrial, and Agricultural Employment: Comprehensive International Macroeconomic Evidence(Kafkas University IIBF, 2024) Algul, YahyaRecent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology have revived concerns about technological unemployment. Regarding the issue, this study examines the impact of AI on employment rates across 17 leading AI countries from 1998 to 2017 using two panel econometric techniques, DOLS and FMOLS, to ensure robust results. For the first time, as far as is known, the effect of AI on employment in distinct sectors is analyzed separately. By uniquely combining different countries and sectors within a macroeconomic framework, this study provides a more comprehensive understanding through a total of eight estimates. The findings indicate that, according to both DOLS and FMOLS techniques, increased AI innovation may raise employment rates in the overall economy and in the service sector, while reducing employment rates in the industrial and agricultural sectors. Consequently, while AI positively impacts overall employment, considering industrial and agricultural sectors, employment policies should be adjusted to meet evolving needs in the AI era.Article Citation - WoS: 1Beta-T Models for Exchange Rate Volatility Modelling: An Evaluation on the US Dollar / Turkish Lira Exchange Rate(Sosyoekonomi Soc, 2023) Bekar, EnginTo compare different risk measurement methods, in this study, the US Dollar, which is important in terms of being one of the most preferred investment instruments in Turkey and being a reserve currency, is under review. First, EGARCH (1,1) and GJR-GARCH (1,1) models were estimated using the return data based on the US Dollar / Turkish Lira exchange rate for the 2005 -2021 period. Then, the "Beta-t-EGARCH and Its Variants", which have been introduced in recent years, fit well with the characteristics of the exchange rate series and, most importantly, are robust to extreme values and jumps in volatility have been estimated with the expectation of being able to calculate the exchange rate risk more accurately. As a result, it was determined that the model that best met the purpose of the study was the "Two-Component Beta-Skew-t-EGARCH Model with Leverage". The study is important because it draws attention to the effect of extreme values and fluctuations in the Turkish foreign exchange market volatility.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Cdr1as/miR7-5p Axis Contributes to the Suppression of Cell Viability in Prostate Cancer(Walter de Gruyter Gmbh, 2025) Kaya, Murat; Suer, Ilknur; Aytatli, Abdulmelik; Karatas, Omer Faruk; Palanduz, Sukru; Cefle, Kivanc; Ozturk, SukruBackground Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed male cancer and the fifth highest cause of cancer mortality in men. CDR1as has played an essential role in the growth of several malignancies. However, its significance in the progression of prostate cancer has not been investigated. We aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of CDR1as in the development of prostate cancer and identify a new target for diagnostics and treatment. Methods CDR1as siRNA and miR-7-5p mimic were transfected into PC3 and DU145 PCa cell lines and their effects on cellular processes were investigated. Cell viability was measured by WST-8 assay. The role of CDR1as and/or miR-7-5p on PCa cell migration was detected using the scratch-wound assay. The apoptotic capacity of the cells was evaluated using the Caspase-3 kit. The potential targets of miR-7-5p were defined via in silico tools. mRNA and protein expression levels of IGF1R and EIF4E were detected by qRT-PCR and western blot assays, respectively. The matching between miR-7-5p and IGF1R was defined via luciferase reporter assay. Results Inhibiting CDR1as or restoring miR-7-5p reduced prostate cancer cell proliferation and migration while increasing apoptosis. Silencing CDR1as elevated the expression of miR-7-5p while decreasing IGF1R.Conclusions CDR1as functions as a miR-7-5p sponge, increasing IGF1R expression and promoting tumor development.Article A Comparative Exploration of Gender Representations in Persian Sufi Literature and Modern Literary Works(Ilahiyat Bilimleri Araştirma Vakfi, 2024) Karimi, PuneThe research examines how gender is depicted in Sufi and modern Persian literature, exploring the complex factors that influence the representation of gender roles and identities throughout different historical periods. The investigation delves into not just literary aesthetics but also the cultural and historical conditions that have shaped the development of gender norms. It examines how Sufi and modern Persian literature, which are deeply influenced by their specific time periods and cultural contexts, mirror and distort societal perspectives on gender. By analyzing the development of these representations over time, the study sheds light on the profound transformation of gender norms and identities throughout the course of Iranian history. This inquiry enhances our comprehension of the complex relationship between literature, culture, and gender dynamics, providing significant insights into how literary works reflect and influence society's perspectives. The results of this study not only enhance academic discussions on Persian literature but also offer a subtle perspective to analyze the wider cultural weave of Iran.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 2Comparison of the Energy and Economic Performance of a LEED Certified Educational Building Located in a Cold Climate Region with the National Standard(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2025) Celik, Ali; Manay, Eyuphan; Sahin, BayramPurpose: The purpose of this study; To ensure the creation of new national standards and regulations in line with international norms and standards, where energy is prioritized, and which includes criteria that will make a positive contribution to the environment without the need for foreign certification. Theory and Methods: With the methods of this study; 1. Finding the primary energy consumption and emission values of the LEED certified reference building, 2. Evaluation of the energy performance of the reference building after use, 3. Conducting energy modeling and determining the energy consumption and emission values for the reference building if it is designed according to national standards, 4. Energy and emission data for both cases are evaluated for the reference building. Results: The additional costs incurred for a LEED certified building, especially those aimed at reducing energy consumption, can finance themselves in a very short time. Therefore, although measures that increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions have additional costs, they provide continuous savings throughout the life of the building. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the expenditures on measures to increase energy efficiency not as an economic cost but as an investment with high medium and long-term returns. Conclusion: This work; It also shows that LEED certification assessment tools will not give the same results for different climate zones. For this reason, it is emphasized that countries should determine their green building priorities.Article Complementary and Supportive Practices Used for Children with Dental Pain by Parents(Galenos Publishing House, 2022) Polat, Sevinc; Taplak, Ayse Sener; Gurol, AyseObjective: This study aimed to determine the complementary and supportive practices used by parents for their children with dental pain. The data obtained indicates that the rulers of the Otto Dynasty prioritised the Romanisation process by seeking to legitimise their political and social authority from a religious perspective. This was followed by an expansion of their empire through the consolidation of their political leadership with the Roman identity. The Otto Dynasty, who sought to exploit every opportunity they encountered from the moment they dedicated themselves to this pursuit, maintained a constant dialogue with the Byzantines. In particular, during the reigns of Byzantine Emperors Constantine VII and Nikephoros Phokas II, the attempt at establishing a kinship that could not be finalised was successfully concluded during the reign of Emperor Ioannes Tzimiskes I, thus bringing them one step closer to their goal of Romanisation. The kinship established with Byzantium through Theofano contributed significantly to the Otto Dynasty in terms of political legitimacy in the Western Roman lands. Following this diplomatic marriage, Byzantine images became more prominent in the Otto Dynasty's administrative approaches and artistic activities.Article The Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic and the Emergency Service in the Perspectives of Nurses Working in Emergency Service: A Photovoice Study(Ataturk Univ, 2023) Korkmaz Aslan, Tuba; Karakurt, NurgulObjective: In the study, it was aimed to determine the thoughts of the nurses working in the emergency service about the emergency service before and after the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. S.; Eroglu, Gozde BusraTenebriomolitorL., 1758 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is one of the major storage pests affecting a large proportion of pasta, flour, starch, and rice. Densoviruses are biocontrol agents with a single-stranded DNA genome that is enveloped and very small in size. In this study, crude TmDNV-TR was formulated using bovine gelatin, and the formulation called Tenebriokiller was prepared in T & uuml;rkiye. The dose of virus in the formulation was determined to be 2.8x108 copies/mL-1. Five different doses were used (2.8x108, 2.8x107, 2.8x106, 2.8x105, and 2.8x104 copies/mL-1) against 10th instar T. molitor larvae. The mortality was detected 100% (LD50: 4 x106 copies/mL-1, LT50: 6 day, LD95: 2.2 x108 copies/mL-1 and LT95: 9 day) by day 14. The stability of the crude virus and Tenebriokiller was tested at different storage temperatures (4 and 25 degrees C) over various periods (3 and 6 months). Accordingly, the mortality rate of the fresh formulation was 100% as in the previous step, while at 4 degrees C the mortality rate at the end of 3 and 6 months remained 100%, and at 25 degrees C, the mortality rate at the end of 3 and 6 months was 98% and 95% respectively, at the end of day 14. Preliminary pathogenicity tests in the laboratory showed that the virus was highly lethal to the target organism. The virus was therefore formulated to maintain its stability during storage, and a prototype formulation was developed.Article Does Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair Improve Kinesiophobia, Depression, and Spatiotemporal Parameters in the Long Term(Erciyes University School of Medicine, 2023) Deniz, Gulnihal; Bilek, Furkan; Esmez, Omer; Gulkesen, Arif; Gurger, MuratObjective: This study aimed to investigate the long-term effects on pain, kinesiophobia, depression, functional capacity, balance, mobility, and spatiotemporal parameters in individuals who underwent rotator cuff (RC) surgery.Materials and Methods: Measurements were conducted on 45 individuals recommended for RC arthroscopy. These included bilateral upper extremity range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, bilateral hand grip strength, spatiotemporal parameters, 9-hole peg test (9-HPT), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (Tampa), Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), and Constant-Murley Score. All measurements were taken one week before and six months after the arthroscopic intervention. Results: Post-RC arthroscopy results showed significant improvements in upper extremity ROM, muscle strength, hand grip strength, 9-HPT, Tampa, BDI, SPADI, and Constant-Mur-ley Score compared to pre-arthroscopy measurements. Spatiotemporal parameters such as total weight transfer, step cycle duration, double stance duration, step length, gait cycle length, foot angle, and cadence values were highly significant in both operated and non-operated extremities after arthroscopic surgery (p<0.01). However, hindfoot pressure analysis and swing phase values were significant only on the operated side after arthroscopic surgery (p<0.05).Conclusion: Prior to RC arthroscopy, individuals exhibited kinesiophobia, depression, reduced functional capacity, balance asymmetry, decreased mobility, and, consequently, spatiotemporal parameter asymmetry between the extremities. Gait disturbances (lengthened swing phase, decreased step length, increased foot angle), balance loss, and arm sway asymmetry were also evident before RC arthroscopy. Based on these findings, we suggest incorporating balance and gait training into the early rehabilitation program after RC arthroscopy.Article Citation - WoS: 2The Effect of Social Media Addiction, Nomophobia, and Netlessphobia on Students' Online Shopping Addictions During the Covid-19 Pandemic(Mehmet Akif Ersoy Univ, 2024) Guzel, Dilsad; Mutlu, MuhammetThe excessive use of internet-based technologies and social media platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused problems such as social media addiction, nomophobia, netlesphobia, and online shopping addiction in individuals.
