This research is about the life story of Qasim Khanate (1445-1681), one of the khanates established after the collapse of the Golden Horde State, and the life of an extraordinary khan. This khan is the Kazakh Sultan Uraz Muhammed, who was detained during a banquet organized by the Russians in Siberia, far from his native land, and taken as a prisoner to Moscow. As a twist of fate, Uraz Muhammed later held high positions in the Russian army and bureaucracy, participated in the wars, and was eventually appointed to the Khanate of Qasim in 1600. This study will reveal a little-known phase of Turkish history through Tsarist documents and Russian sources. This research will seek answers to the following questions: What is the origin of Uraz Muhammed? How was Uraz Muhammed taken prisoner? How did a captive sultan rise to the khanate? What makes it different from other khans? Why did he rebel against Tsarist Russia? What role did Uraz Muhammed play in Kazakh-Russian relations? What is the position of Uraz Muhammed in the history of Turkish-Russian relations?
