Abstract

Aziridine-containing compounds have many biological activities, particularly antitumor, and antibacterial activities, due to the presence of an aziridine ring. The aim of this study was to synthesize four hybrid isoindol-1,3-dione analogues containing aziridine units (8a-d) and evaluate their cytotoxic potential against the A549, MCF7, and PC3 cell lines. A549, MCF7, and PC3 cells exposed to each obtained compound at doses of 5, 25, and 100 mu M were incubated for 24 h and 8c was found to exhibit obvious anticancer activity against all three cancer cell lines. Further apoptosis assays and in vitro wound-healing tests were performed and the results were evaluated.
