Sultan Iı. Abdülhamid Dönemi'nde Sosyal Yardım Amaçlı Düzenlenen Piyango, Balo ve Tiyatro Etkinlikleri

Abstract

Osmanlı toplumunda meddahlık, Karagöz-Hacivat gibi gölge oyunları, yazın mesire alanları, kışın helva sohbetleri ve hamam kültürü gibi klasik eğlence türleri ön plandayken özellikle Tanzimat'la birlikte hayatın hemen her alanında oluşan batılılaşma, eğlence anlayışında da farklılıklar ve yenilikler getirmiştir. Batılı tarzda eğlencenin hayatlarına dahil olmasıyla birlikte toplumun yaşam tarzında da birtakım değişiklikler yaşanmıştır. Bunun en bariz örnekleri arasında tiyatrolar, balolar ve piyango çekilişleri gelmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti için yeni olan bu eğlence türleri yalnız halkı eğlendirmekle kalmamış aynı zamanda yardım amaçlı olarak da düzenlenmiştir. Bu etkinlikler yardıma ihtiyaç duyan fakirler, kimsesizler, muhacirler, hastalar, hastaneler, belediye ve en çok da okullar yararına tertip edilmiştir. Başlangıçta kiliseler tarafından düzenlenen etkinlikler sonraları Osmanlı Devleti'nde bulunan elçiler, elçilerin eşleri ve cemiyetler tarafından da düzenlenmiştir. Sultan II. Abdülhamid döneminde Osmanlı Devleti'nin birçok yerinde gayrimüslimler okullar açmıştı. Buna ilişkin düzenlemeye göre, kiliseler ve cemaatler eliyle kurulan okulların masrafları kurucu kilise ve cemaatler tarafından karşılanacaktır. Okulların gelirleri giderlerini karşılamakta yetersiz kalınca ihtiyaçları karşılamak için tiyatro, piyango ve balo gösterileri düzenlenmiştir.

While classical entertainment types such as meddah, shadow plays such as Karagöz-Hacivat, recreation areas in summer, halva conversations in winter and Turkish bath culture were at the forefront of Ottoman society, westernization that occurred in almost all areas of life, especially with the Tanzimat, brought differences and innovations in the understanding of entertainment. With the inclusion of Western-style entertainment in their lives, there have been some changes in the lifestyle of society. The most obvious examples of this are theatres, balls, and lottery draw.These entertainment type, which were new for the Ottoman Empire, were not only entertaining the public but were also organized for many aid purposes. These events were organized on behalf of the poor, orphans, immigrants, and patients, hospitals, municipalities, and most schools.Theaters and lottery events were organized to eliminate the great economic difficulties experienced especially after the war, and the money collected was generally delivered to the needy by the state. The events, which were initially organized by the churches, were later organized by the ambassadors, the wives of the ambassadors, and societies in the Ottoman Empire. During the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, non-Muslims opened schools in many parts of the Ottoman Empire. According to the regulation regarding this, the expenses of the schools established by churches and congregations will be covered by the founding churches and congregations. When the incomes of the schools were insufficient to meet their expenses, theater, lottery and ball performances were organized to meet the needs.
