This project concerns the analysis of unpublished manuscript fragments belonging to the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra and its milieu—one of the significant literary sources of Old Uyghur Turkic—through documentary edition and philological analysis. As is well known, Old Uyghur consists of both religious and secular written sources. Religious sources, alongside Manichaeism and Nestorian Christianity, are predominantly comprised of Buddhism. The Old Uyghur Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra is a crucial text related to the Mahāyāna school of Buddhism. Although it has not reached the present day in its entirety, a large portion of fragments belonging to various sections has been published. The unpublished fragments of this text constitute the subject of this research project. Within this framework, the transcriptions and transliterations of the aforementioned manuscript fragments have been provided via documentary edition. The text has been rendered into Modern Turkish through intralingual translation, and a philological analysis has been conducted with orthographic, etymological, and lexicological explanations. Furthermore, a lexicological analysis was carried out in the vocabulary section. The scope and limitations of the project are defined by 25 manuscript fragments totaling 325 lines. The management of this research project involved one project coordinator and one graduate scholarship student. Regarding the project's broader impact, three international journal articles were published during the project period. Additionally, one international book chapter and one international journal article are currently under peer review.
