The purpose of this study is to examine the administration of the Kingdom of Armenia (Armenia Maior / 331 BC-AD 428) by the Roman Empire in the 1st century AD, the reactions of the Armenian people to this situation, and the methods used by the Roman administration to legitimize its rule in the face of these reactions. The temporal scope of the study is the 1st century AD, while its geographical scope consists of Asia Minor, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Rome. The rationale for the study is based on assumptions regarding the appointment by Rome of kings named Tigranes V (6-12 AD) and Tigranes VI (58-61 AD), who had no direct connection to the Armenian dynasties, to govern the region. These assumptions include the undermining of Roman interests in the region, the pro-Roman stance of the appointed individuals, the dissatisfaction of the Armenian people with these appointments, and Rome's resorting to certain methods to establish legitimacy. Although there are studies providing information about the rulers mentioned in the literature, these studies are generally limited to describing events and do not engage in analytical evaluation based on the above-mentioned assumptions. It is particularly noteworthy that there is no independent study in Turkish literature focusing on Tigranes V and Tigranes VI. However, addressing the subject from a broader perspective will also contribute to understanding the Roman Empire's policies in Asia Minor and the patronage relationships between Rome and its vassal kingdoms. In this regard, the study to be prepared is expected to fill the gaps identified in the existing literature and make original contributions to the field. It is expected that the research results will be converted into one TR Dizin indexed article in the context of widespread impact/output. Furthermore, as this publication will be produced in a field that has not been the subject of many independent studies in our country, it will contribute to the literature and knowledge base for further studies. The research model of the study is case study, one of the qualitative research methods. The work, planned for 10 months, consists of four work packages. The research team consists solely of the applicant.
