Vocabulary Based on the Concept of 'orthopedic Disability' in Historical Turkic Languages

Abstract

To ensure that they are not sure of the vocabulary surrounding various conceptual fields as various suffixes in the root as an agglutinative language, the Turkic language, which came with the changes it experienced in the historical process and various branches that occurred in the unity of these changes, which was documented for the first time in writing with the Orkhon Inscriptions. It contains primarily religious terms, clothes, food and beverage names, kinship names, myths, legends, tales, proverbs, etc. Turkic language, which contains vocabulary elements based on various conceptual fields in its categories, has a richness in terminology. One of the rich terminological categories in the Turkic language is the 'organ names' category. In this category comes the concept of 'orthopedic disability', which has various medical sub-headings. In this respect, the present study consists of thematic and linguistic analyzes based on the terms within the concept of 'orthopedic disability', witnessed by historical Turkic texts. In the study, firstly, information will be given about the terms that are in the concept of 'orthopedic disability' medically, and then studies based on the words in 'orthopedic disability' will be given. © 2023 Hacettepe University 1.
