Abstract
Using high-strength steel with reduced weight in buildings and industry is important because, as the weight of the buildings is reduced, the behavior of steel in various situations becomes important. In this study, moment-rotation curves of sinusoidal beams were investigated using fixed end-plate connections. Use of a new sinusoidal beam model is proposed. Results were compared with experiments performed not only with IPE profile but also with similar manufactured profile. In the result, weight was reduced for sinusoidal 70 degrees beams, showing improvements in terms of moment resistance. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
